Morehead Recycling Center.
Q: Do you just accept plastic bottles, or a variety?
A: We collect most soda bottles, steel and aluminum cans, detergent bottles, water bottles and other plastic containers #1 and #2. We just ask that you clean them out before dropping them off. We also accept white and brown grocery bags.
Q: What exactly do you accept?
A: Here at the CRC we currently accept paper, glass, cardboard, ink cartridges, cans, plastic and E-scrap.
Q: What is E-scrap exactly?
A: The 'E' stands for electronic. We accept computers, printers, monitors, keyboards and any other computer peripherals and accessories, laptops, fax machines, phones, cell phones, electronic games, VCRs, DVD players, and the videos, DVDs, floppy disks, tapes, etc., that are used in them, and microwaves.
Q: When I bring in my computer for E-scrap, is the memory wiped?
A: Memory is wiped at the factory. We do not have the equipment to do that on our site.
Q: What kind of printer cartridges do you accept?
A: We accept ink and toner cartridges.
Q: What are the specifics for glass recycling?
A: The CRC collects clear, brown and green bottles as well as jars. Be kind enough to remove the lid and its contents!
Q: Where do we drop off the glass?
A: The glass bin is located at the far back of the center; you will see signs leading you right to it.
Q: How specific are you with the paper?
A: The CRC accepts newspaper, soft and hard back books, magazines, file folders, mixed paper and shredded paper. They each have separate bins.
Q: How do I deliver my shredded paper?
A: We just ask that you put the shredded paper in a bag and tie it off.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located off the US 60 Bypass near the City Park. Go over the bridge, turn right onto Triplett Street; we are on the right.
Q: What are the hours of the CRC?
A: The CRC is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Q: Can we drop off recyclables anytime in the drive through?
A: You sure can, the drive through is accessible 24/7.
Q: How can I purchase recycled materials?
A: Good question. Look for products with post-consumer recycled content. Also the Green Seal and Scientific Certification Systems are two organizations you can refer to for recycled materials.
Q: How do I identify plastic recyclables?
A: When looking at your plastics there are two symbols on the bottom of the bottle, a 1 and 2. Depending on the symbol that is how you sort your plastic.
